What is Allergic Rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis is irritation and inflammation of the nasal lining which leads to a runny nose and nasal congestion. This is caused by an allergic reaction when exposed to allergens such as pollens, trees, grasses, weeds, dust mites or mould.
What are the symptoms?
The characteristic symptoms of allergic rhinitis include: • Itching of the eyes, nose, ears, and throat • Sneezing • Nasal congestion • Watery, runny nose
These symptoms occur because your body overreacts to airborne particles and irritants and then launches an ‘attack’. The nasal passages become inflamed and more mucus is produced. Your tear ducts can also get over-stimulated and your eyes start to stream. This results in congested sinuses, a blocked or running nose and sneezing.
How can I manage Allergic Rhinitis?
Reduce your allergen load by considering the following: 1. Avoid allergens (such as grass, pollen, dust mites and pet dander) where possible. 2. Wash bedding in hot water (>55 degrees Celsius) 3. Vacuum regularly 4. Avoid preservatives or additives that trigger symptoms 5. Use a preservative and additive free saline such as FESS SENSITIVE NOSES. 6. Consider using a nasal irrigation such as FESS SINU-CLEANSE which is specifically formulated for SEVERE nasal congestion due to rhinitis, sinusitis and allergies.
Choose FESS SENSITIVE NOSES
FESS SENSITIVE NOSES gently cleanses the nasal tissue and washes away dust, pollens and other allergens. In addition, due to its non-medicated and completely preservative and additive free formula, FESS SENSITIVE NOSES can be used as often as necessary and is ideal for people who are more prone to nasal congestion due to their allergies.
